Ah, I suppose I can forgive you both :)

With regards to salt water, I use sea salt in my bath water all the time now, but it hasn't hurt my toe, or done anything positive either :(

The doctor was pressing on various points on my toe for signs of pain, and there were none, so he declared me free of infection...however, an hour or so later, it began to throb. I squeezed the same places the doctor had tested, and still no pain, but then I tried pressing it from a different angle, and it really hurt :( I really wish I'd noticed this while I was there, as I could have had more antibiotics, but now have to make a fourth appointment...they'll be taking out a restraining order on me if this carries on :D

There's something else too. It turns out that I'm also suffering from something called Reynards (or however you spell it), as all my toes are red at the tips, but only the big toes were ever infected. And apparently my feet were both really cold, despite the fact that it's a lovely warm day today. Not something I wanted to hear, but apparently it's not serious unless it becomes painful, in which case I could just get some tablets. And it explains why the colour of my toe was changing between pink, red and a rather worrying purple. The only way to get rid of the redness now is by wearing warm socks, but unfortunately I can't do that until the infection is actually gone completely :(

Well it sounds like things are improving. Are you starting walking again?

Had a meeting with my summer trainer. She's a paid staffer at my university's gym, and their rates are crazy cheap, so I'm gonna use her services, but she doesn't project an air of authority. I hope I feel comfortable with her after a session or two.

Not yet. I daren't until I know for definite that all the infection has indeed gone. I don't want to risk infecting any more footwear, as I now need to throw out my army boots, and both pairs of trainers I own, as well as countless pairs of socks :( And I've wasted loads of money on stuff to treat any infection lurking in my shoes and socks, which might not end up working :(

Plus, I also need to buy proper walking boots now, to ensure I will be comfortable from the word go. I was going to try some on, but have decided that I won't bother and will just get a size 6, rather than try a 5 and a 6. I'm a 6, but for some reason I seem to be the only person (that I'm aware of) who needs big boots in a size smaller than I am, rather than a size larger, as is the case with most people

Size 6 boots tend to be a tad too big, but while a 5 fits on my foot perfectly, they rub quite painfully if I walk too much in them :( But hey, bigger boots means thick socks to pad it all out, and although the weather may be warm, I need to wrap my feet up in warm socks as the doctor said that this is the only way I will be able to reduce the redness of my toes brought on by this Reynards thing :(

All the specific walking trainers I looked at were either the same price as the boots I'd like to get (£50) or even more. And they were mainly suede, so more than likely not waterproof :(

Suede's a bastard to clean as well. I'm thinking of getting a new pair of boots as well but I'm saving my money for something else at the moment, it's not as if I 100% need new boots anyway...just 75%. ;) :D lol.

Just been reading up on my newfound condition...depressing :(

My feet are freezing right now, and I really need to wear some socks to warm up, but all my socks are riddled with the toe infection, and I really don't want to spread that and make it worse, or make what little infection left in my toe flare right back up again :(

Any idea if boil washing the socks, and then using antibacterial/antifungal powder/spray, will kill off any infection in the socks?
