Good for you OLP! It's hard to get into the swing of things, but once you get going you start to feel the difference. I recently started changing my diet and heading to the gym. I hated the gym and was so sore I thought I would never make it through that first week, but I did and now I can see (and feel) the progress. Keep it up! :)

OLP, a better diet will definitely help you see changes faster. But don't fall into the trap of thinking of it as a temporary diet, because once you're off the diet, you'll put that weight back on. Think of it as permanent diet modification. And don't feel like you have to give up chocolate or whatever your favorite indulgences are. You just have to learn to enjoy them less often, or in smaller portions, or healthier forms. Having chinese takeaway once a week or an occasional chocolate bar will not kill you or even make you fat. It's when you are having them 3-4 times a week that you're going to put on the weight. I find that I like food I've cooked for myself almost as much as food at a restaurant once I factor in the satisfaction of making it myself.

Seb is right. I was recently diagnosed as being insulin resistant and have had to change a lot of my diet. But knowing that I have to keep it under control was the push I needed to make this more a lifestyle change rather than your typical run of the mill diet. Because of this I recognize that I can allow myself to "cheat". If I try to keep my diet strict 24/7, I know I'm just setting myself up for failure. I've learned to limit the 'bad' foods so that I'm eating smaller portions and eating them less frequently. It was hard the first couple of weeks, but now it feels like second nature. And boy can I feel the change when I do give in and have that slice of pizza, lol! Hehe, but it's all worth it. Not only am I feeling better, but my husband actually commented on all the weight I've been losing. It's good for my ego, lol! :D
One thing for sure, our grill is getting much more use!

Seems like you're the resident "Daddy" now Seb =)

So true! I always look forward to reading his posts! :)
