Well, I'm a professional historian, so I tend to know a lot of obscure bits of information.

I refer to folks like you as "campfire people" - those whom I would want to sit around a campfire with and pick your brain. My sister is one of those types - she's a one-time "professional student". She spent 13-years in college earning MA's in genetic anthropology, archaeology, forensics and finally a PhD in Public Health....What I like about her, is her ability to disseminate information about the human condition without making you feel like a dumbass..
