oh, WMAGuy I envy you!! I have always wanted to go to Ireland. I wonder what St. Patricks day would be like there? I can't even imagine what living in Africa was like. I have lived in Japan since 2006. And at least for another 18 days :( Never thought I would consider a forgien country my home. But no matter how much I try to avoid the inventiable, I can't. :(

We're in a state of mutual envy... ;) I have seen a fair chunk of the world, but Japan is among the places I've always wanted to see but have not....This will be my first trip to Ireland and while a bit cliche, I'm looking forward to melting into Dublin for a week - especially during Saint Patricks Day....Will send you pics! Africa was the culmination of a boyhood dream. Saved 6-years, sold everything and just went. I didn't want to be "that tourist", so I rented a Land Rover in Johannesburg and made my way to Botswana, (and other points north). In total, I spent 6-days in towns, (Joberg, Vic Falls, Maun) and the rest of the time in the wild....There's something surreal about 50,000 square miles of wilderness and just me....I'm still there in many ways.....Have a safe journey back and I'm sorry your being detached from a place you obviously love - I know that feeling all to well...

Oh, Japan is WONDERFUL!! If you ever get the chance to visit the best times are late March, The cherry blossoms (Sakura) are beautiful, I am really hoping I will get to see them one last time before we leave. Also I would suggest in July/August so you are able to climb Mt. Fuji. Wonderful experience! I learned a lesson during my climb, one that I don't ever want to forget. Kamakura (The great buddah) is a wonderful sight. The pictures don't do it justice. If you want I'm sure I could scrounge up some of my photos and send you.

I also hope you have a safe journy too. I don't think it is cilche. I would want to do the same thing. I hope you are able to find a few good Ceilidh's while there. Thank you for the pics of Irelend offer. I will be eagerly waiting.

Leaving Japan is bittersweet. But at least I get to take back with me the most important things. The memories - the good times and bad times - and the knowledge of the things I have overcome while here.

Africa - I'm speechless. I envy you there too. But more over Ireland :P

Happy belated birthday OLP.

Figured I'd chime in on the travel bug for my first post in a while. I've been all over the US, mostly on either coast. Spent a lot of time in Canada as it's an hour away, some time in Mexico. I've been to a large number of Caribbean Islands. On the other side of the world, I've spent a great deal of time in France- sometimes Paris but mostly up in Normandy- more specifically Caen, England (London and its suburbs), and Ireland (Carrigaline and Dublin mostly but spent some time in Kinsale) and in the fall I'll be moving to Oxford, England for school.

Total Randomness!!

Today while shopping for my son's birthday I discovered this talking Megatron transformer toy. I of course, like any normal person, :D pushed the button to see what he said...."I am Santa Claus!" Or at least that is what it sounds like. I laughed so hard (and still am). I think I have been scared for life. I will never be able to look at Santa Clause again without seeing the talking Megatron saying "I am Santa Claus!"
