you are right, it would be a 'hoping place' but I like it small -- just like it is. It is easier to easily remember things about everyone. Like who is whose master, and sexual orientations...along with who is a dom, sub, master, slave, daddy, and switch....

I joined a few BDSM forums and this one by far is my fave...I like that it's small, but SLP is right, it is slow at times. As for me, I am up to my neck in LIG, (life in general). I am unraveling 13-years of my life and moving out - moving on, this Friday....Not that I'll be missed that much, but will miss checking in to my little kinky home on the WWW.... ;)

Ceilidh, have a good move. I'm glad it's finally happening. Write when you can, and don't forget to wash behind your ears.

OLP, regular exercise is critical to weight loss, so you're doing exactly what you need to be doing. The trick is to stick with it no matter what. It takes about 20 repetitions of something to make it a habit, so those first few weeks are going to be the hard part. Force yourself to do those walks no matter what, and in a month or so, you'll be doing them by habit. Aim for 40 minutes of fast walking at least 3 times a week. By fast walking, I mean something that will get your heart rate up and get you sweating at least a little bit. You can still get benefit from slower exercise, but it will take longer.

To get a flat stomach, you need to lose weight. Ab exercises will firm your muscles, but you won't see it unless you lose the weight. My advice is to work on losing the weight first and then start adding ab stuff--otherwise, if you're like me, you'll get frustrated because you're not seeing results and feel like giving up. So do something that will allow you to monitor your progress. Buy a tape measure and measure yourself regularly or weight yourself daily or pay attention to have a particular tight dress fits. Feeling like you're making real progress can be the difference between success and failure (it was for me). Once you see some progress, add something more, like those ab exercises, to keep you progressing.

Good luck! You can totally do it. Keep us updated on your efforts and we can cheerlead for you.

Cheers for the advice, Jey and Seb, I will bear it in mind :)

I've not long come back from one walk; about 45 minutes down to the supermarket (used to take an hour, but I seem to walk quicker in warmer weather), 15 or 20 minutes walking round in there, and then 45 minutes back to my flat, mainly uphill this time. I want to be able to do this every day, but my back is killing me and my feet are really sore too :(

As for measuring, I bought a tape measure yesterday and measured around the fullest part of both my belly and thighs. I will keep this planned regime up (provided my feet don't give up on me) and measure myself again in 4 weeks' time. I really hope there will be some inch loss, no matter how small :(

OLP, another thing that helped was setting both long-term and short term goals. I needed to lose about 50 lbs, but that seemed too much, like I could never do it. So I focused on losing 5 lbs. That seemed manageable. After I lost 5 lbs, I treated myself in some way and then focused on losing the next 5 lbs. So if you want to lost 5 inches off your waist or whatever, focus on 1-inch increments, or 1 dress size at a time. Reward yourself when you hit your goal, so you can be really aware that you're making progress.

The first few times you exercise, you will feel tired and your body will ache and you'll want to stop. Don't. Just keep going. Tell yourself that you're not doing this for a short-term benefit; you're making a change for your whole life. You have to do those three walks a week or whatever, because that's just something you'll be doing for the rest of your life. If you don't think like that, skipping one day will become an excuse to skip the next day and pretty soon you'll decide that you should just give up.

If your feet are really sore, you might need to buy walking shoes or maybe some inserts.

Cheers for the advice :)

I would welcome tiredness and achiness right now; I'm hoping that this will help improve my awful sleep pattern. If I'm worn out, I'll fall asleep earlier, so will more than likely naturally wake up earlier too. Or at least I hope so :)

Yay...one of the companies I've applied to for work want to conduct a phone interview with me! :) This is the first real interest any employer has shown in me since I began my jobsearch nearly 18 months ago  I'm terrified now though; I haven't worked in 6 years (was a carer for my ex while we were still together, for nearly 5 years) so my interview skills are extremely rusty, to say the least... :(
