I originally had long black hair, but it was badly damaged by heat and too many different dyes. Two months ago, despite promising pretty much everyone that I wouldn't, I shaved my head completely clean. My natural colour is a coppery reddish brown, and I wanted it to grow thick enough to spike up before I dyed it.

So yesterday, I went out and bought the Schwarzkopf LIVE 'Cyber Purple' (sort of reddish purple, with a pinkish shine, for anyone who doesn't know) because I used that one before going black, and it always worked a treat, and looked great :)

Anyway, I applied it, and waited...then discovered to my absolute horror that it had gone a sort of really dull, but dark, purplish brown. I didn't want to go dark again, and was pretty surprised that the colour hadn't taken properly. I think maybe it was because I was sat in a steaming bath while the dye was taking, as I've found, for myself, that doing this seems to affect the colour result :(

So now I must wait for my roots to grow, and try again, but do it right this time, and hope that works. I am actually wodering if maybe the bottle was wrongly labelled, as it has gone the same as a dark purple dye from the same brand that I tried a few months ago. The foam of that, and of the one I used yesterday, was a deep vibrant purple, but for the shade I wanted, it's supposed to be a sort of dusky pink foam

Sorry for the long description. And also for ranting about it. I know a botched hair colour is a really trivial matter, but given that I shaved my head, and was so determined to get it looking exactly as I wanted, this has proved a pretty big deal for me, and a bit distressing, as stupid as that sounds :(

It's NOT a trivial matter lol. At least not to me. Call me vain, call me self-centered, whatever- I LOVE my hair. It's the one part of me that I always have confidence in and enjoy preening to make look fantastic. I cannot imagine shaving my head. I wouldn't do it, end of story. Was the actual bottle labeled or just the packaging around the bottle . . . I hate to say it, but I was a terror of a child sometimes . . . I would go into stores and switch the colors in boxes for fun *blush*

Haha, so did you probably cause a load of sweet little grannies to end up with bright green or pink hair instead of their traditional blue rinse? :D

And the colour code number was the same on both the colour solution bottle, and on the box the whole caboodle came in. That's why I wonder if whoever was filling the bottles made a mistake :(

But now I'm wondering if maybe, because I stuck to mainly black dyes for 6 or 7 years, it's possible that my hair has become somewhat intolerant, maybe, to other colours...I hope not, because after so many years of being dark, I really want a lighter and preferably more vibrant shade :(
