Good for you for putting your foot down. My mother's ex-husband was verbally abusive (and he did push me down the stairs once) so I know only too well that abusers don't have to be physical.

I stay away from family other than my mother and siblings. They all are just alcoholics and not good to be around. Never anything physical. The verbal abuse and threats were enough to do a lot of harm.

I stay away as much as possible myself. Most of my ' Family' are friends. For a happy dance moment, my mother is putting in for an assignment in Maine. Whoot!

I thought that was what family was suppose to do.. Get on your nerves. Now every time my mother is getting on my nerves I just repeat, Friday. She is leaving on Friday. I do feel bad for my daughter though. She adores my mother and loves spending time with her. She all day and was really down for another couple of days last time she left for an assignment. Well we bought a house in a new neighborhood where she has a lot of friends so perhaps that will help this time.
