We have always known that the canvas used to make Maxcita gear shrinks and becomes very stiff and harsh when it gets wet. We know this because we feel the stiffening effect when we wash it by hand. As a matter of fact, we don't use our washing machine because the canvas becomes far too rigid for the machine to handle.
In this video we test the shrinkage and stiffening effect of a Maxcita straitjacket on a visitor who happened to bring a full neoprene wetsuit. Not only did he report that the straitjacket felt like a rigid metal vest once it became wet, we found that the straitjacket actually stood up on its own once it was removed! When summer rolls around we will have to do more tests in a swimming pool. Stay tuned.
