Four soldiers (three of whom appear to be actual soldiers) are building a dacha for a general in a settlement near Moscow (the general is clearly an actor in costume—an older, heavy-set man). During breaks from their work, the soldiers pair off and have sex. The guys are muscular, but their physiques and faces are ordinary—not like those of fashion models. It’s evident that almost all of them are appearing on camera for the first time; they seem stiff and self-conscious, diligently following the director’s instructions. All of this creates a touching sense of spontaneity and immediacy. Unlike Western films, which are often highly polished but somewhat dull, this film feels remarkably lively. The final scene is particularly striking: the general discovers the soldiers having sex and decides to punish them—in an unconventional way. The "punishment" entails the guys stripping the general completely naked, whipping his fleshy buttocks, and then having sex with him. Before this, the general hands out striking leather briefs and half-masks (!) for the soldiers to wear. The ending is especially good: the guys all ejaculate onto the general at nearly the same time, while he lets out a growl of pure pleasure.
