It's mostly to keep spammers out, since they're already difficult sections to keep an eye on at times. A month isn't so long, and one if you join in discussions, your post counts will go up quickly.
If it's really severely disheartening to you, you could contact an admin (us mods can't do anything about where you're allowed to post). I'm not sure if that would help or not.
Otherwise, you can keep a small link in your signature for the time being, if that's good enough for you.
