The battles in Breast Wars are determined through various cards, and how you choose to play them. Play alternates between your attack phase and defense phase. You begin every battle by drawing 5 cards, and beginning your attack phase. During each phase you and your opponent can each select up to three cards to play on the field. The number on each card you put into play is added together to determine your total attack and defense value.

This is pitted against your opponents total value, and you deal damage if your total attack is higher than their total defense. All cards put into play are discarded at the end of the phase, and you draw two new cards at the beginning of each phase.

Occasionally you may draw one of two special cards the Draw card, or the Shuffle card. Activating the draw card lets you draw three more cards into your hand, though you can never hold more than 7 cards at a given time. The shuffle card allows to select as many cards from your hand as you'd like to discard. You then get to draw one new card for every card discarded.




And of course, once victory is yours, you'll get to reap the spoils of war!

During many years Danes and Anastasia fight for respective nations, but they are also oddly enough letter friends who play chess via mail. Both are actually dreaming of peace, but politics always comes in the way of things. When the Furuakia emperor dies, a shaky cease fire emerges and negotiations of peace will be held on neutral land in the guild city of Aruraune. This is however only a set up. An old enemy of Anastasia and Danes, a mercenary captain named Gagoze plot to get his revenge for losing his arm in a past battle. He has support of one of the guild bosses, a slave merchant named Jean, although more commonly known as the Quicksilver Witch. She is the leader of the city and her ambition is to continue to make the guild prosper with arms trade which would suffer if the war ended. She also runs a brothel which deals with high end commodity and Anastasia and Danes would make a couple of superb items to show off.




The story background to Captive Market is quite interesting, blending pure fantasy elements with a modern day World War 2 like theme. It is cool to see the contrast of a society which was based on magic with a rich heritage from such a world transform into a modern day society with its problems and oddities. In some ways this game is more of a science fiction game than a fantasy one. But even though the world and concept is very cool, there is a thing that pretty much screws things up when the game has gone on for a couple of hours. For some reason, the developers thought that taking such interesting characters and turning them into bunny girls made complete and perfect sense. Sure, the sex is fantastic, especially if you like enjoy the darker aspects, but it knocks you out of your enjoyment of the world they've built and reduces this to another average nukige. It's just rather insulting, because it could have been so much more.

This one here is mostly about the hentai sex, which is fine if that's all you're looking for. But you're likely not going to remember this a year from now. With the exception of a few curious clothing options, the character designs are nice, and the heroines (see: rape victims) each have their own personality.
Sadly the most interesting character, Airi, doesn't really get her her own path, and she's pushed out of the nearest window with an umbrella as soon as it's convenient.

In an interesting twist, several of the sex scenes are actually animated, and fairly well at that. The story is largely unmemorable, but there were a couple parts that made me laugh and are fairly self-aware for a hentai game. I get the feeling that the writers were actually trying to riff on the classic hentai tropes: Tentacles, slime monsters, animal girls, the works. But I feel like there might have been a few things lost in translation.
