Lords of the Jungle is the first "overseas" shoot for Raging Stallion, a studio that normally shoots on sound stages or on location in Northern California. Company head Chris Ward, long an admirer of the work of Kristen Bjorn, wanted to get his camera and crew out into the tropical jungle. As many of you may not know, Ward has a PhD in archaeology with a specialty in the ancient Maya--he grew up in the jungle and has always wanted to film gay porn in a lush, tropical environment. The closest "jungle" to San Francisco is Hawaii, so the entire 10-man production team was flown to the big island for two weeks of heavy shooting. Models were flown in several days later. bringing the entire team to over 20 guys. Ward and Leon did not want to shoot a "pretty" jungle movie--instead they were looking for the rough, harsh, real jungle--a difficult environment to film, but one which brings a gritty reality that has never before been captured in an erotic movie. The crew left the gardens and pools behind and set out with four-wheel drive vehicles to search the island for the most dramatic locations. This attention to detail (and the hard work that went with it!) is what gives Lords of the Jungle its authentic look.
