olp - are you taking any other supplements or vitamins? (including C, Ginkgo, garlic, goldenseal, etc...)

If you are, please check each one for interactions with your antibiotic.

Yes this is a very good point :) I once had this seemingly impossible to beat pneumonia.. In the end the meds werent working because I was taking a supplement at the same time.. It was magnesium or iron I think?

No, the only other thing I'm taking is pills for a bladder problem, which the doctor assured me will be okay taken alongside the toe antibiotics. And if it turns out I need stronger antibiotics, then I'm fucked, because I'm allergic to penicillin :(

Wow that sucks.. I hope it works out for you soon - not being able to do my running would kill me.. It sucks having to not exercise due to injury-stuff.. :(

Go to your pharmacist love, doctors aren’t trained to know about that sort of thing. Doctors know what’s wrong with you; pharmacists know what drugs react badly with other drugs. He might be an excellent doctor but they’re just not trained to know about all the drugs and such things that a pharmacists is. He is probably right about this though because antibiotics are normally taken with other drugs, it was more “in the future†advise for everyone. :D

The only bit of advice I can give you is to stay away from sugary things. You’re on antibiotics which means it’s a bacterial infection and bacteria survive on sugar so the more sugar you eat (including sweet fruits) the longer it will take to heal.

If, like me, you don't eat a lot of sugar then I'm out of ideas...sorry. :( Problems with feet are normally the most painful because you’re always on them so I really hope you get better soon OLP. :D

But doctors must know about drugs too.. Otherwise, how can they prescribe them and be safe about it?
Yes, it's not like you can just decide to use your feet less :) Once a bee stung me under my foot.. Ouch. Big time. That area under your feet is so sensitive.. :( I wouldnt want to have painful feet for long, like you OLP..

They do, just not as well. Have you ever been to the pharmacist and been told that some drug isn’t available today BUT they have another drug that will do the same job? Chances are the pharmacist knew they would clash with another drug you were taking.

You don’t ask the butcher to cook you a meal and the chief to butcher a carcass. ;)

That's the weird thing. The infection isn't actually causing me any constant pain. I only became aware that there was any pain when the doctor squeezed the top of my toe :(

Also, he told me I can only wear open toe footwear while it's healing, and around this time of night my feet often get quite cold :( And I've spent a bloody fortune on powders and sprays to use on all my socks and shoes :(
